Two members of the GSU Debate Team have won regional honors in the CEDA (Cross Examination Debate Association) 2011-2012 season.

Clay Stewart, first-year debater and university Presidential Scholar, was named the southeast region’s top junior varsity speaker for the year.  Just this last weekend at the JV/Novice National Championship tournament, Stewart and teammate Luke Floyd advanced to the elimination rounds and finished tied for 17th place.

Nick Sciullo, a team coach and a doctoral student in Communication, was awarded Graduate Assistant of the Year by coaches in the southeastern region.

In CEDA tournaments this season, college debate teams have been debating whether the U.S. government should substantially increase democracy assistance to certain countries in the Middle East.
