Academic advisement is an essential component of an education at Georgia State, and the university is committed to providing timely and accurate advice and assistance to its students. Undergraduates in the College of Arts and Sciences have a designated advisor for each stage of progress through their degree programs:
Freshmen through Junior Advisement: Georgia State students are assigned an advisor in the University Advisement Center (UAC) for their freshmen through junior years (i.e., 0 to 89 credit hours earned). The UAC is located in the 25 Park Place Building on the 13th and 14th floors. Info: www.gsu.edu/advisement.
Senior Advisement in the College: The College of Arts and Sciences Office of Academic Assistance Students provides advisement services for undergraduate students who have achieved senior status (i.e., 90 hours or above). Students are advised on an appointment basis, or may come by the office at any time during office hours for brief walk-in consultations. For general questions or to schedule an appointment with your senior advisor, please call 404-413-5000. We do not schedule walk-in appointments.
Services provided by the OAA are as follows:
- Assistance with course selection and schedule revision
- Assistance identifying tutorial programs and other help resources
- Evaluation of degree requirements for graduation
- Preparation of graduation audits
- Advisement concerning university policies and regulations
Department undergraduate directors and coordinators are available throughout your time at Georgia State to consult with students on course recommendations, tutorial programs, signature experiences (e.g., internships, research opportunities, civic engagement, study abroad), and career options. We recommend that you visit with a department representative early in your degree program. Info: www.cas.gsu.edu/ugrad_directors.aspx.

Please note:
- Only New transfer students for Fall semester should register for this Group Advisement Session.
- If you have attended Incept Orientation, please DO NOT sign up for the Group Advisement Session.
- All students must have 42 hours or more before registering, and must be pursuing a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences.
-
Students are not required to sign-up with their assigned academic advisor to attend one of the Group Advisement Sessions.
