Georgia State University has a strong commitment to Middle East Studies and works actively through its Middle East Institute to collaborate with education institutions in the region in a variety of programs. These partnerships, with institutions such as Cairo University and Ben Gurion University of the Negev, provide MES students with many opportunities to experience the region. MES students should also take advantage of the Middle East Lecture Series held on the Georgia State campus. Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Middle East StudiesThe Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Middle East Studies is designed to provide a firm foundation in Middle East Studies for students wishing to pursue a graduate degree in the discipline or desiring to understand the Middle East to further their career. Professions in which a specialization in Middle East Studies is an asset include business, law, education, and governmental service. This interdisciplinary program focuses on issues in the modern Middle East and the significance of the region in a rapidly globalizing world. Students are able to select courses from a variety of departments and schools, including History, Political Science, Anthropology and Geography, Sociology, Art and Design, and Modern and Classical Languages. BIS MES Curriculum Interdisciplinary Minor in Middle East StudiesThe Interdisciplinary Minor in Middle East Studies provides a variety of educational opportunities for the student seeking to understand the modern middle East and the significance of the region.
