Fall 2009 Title VI Faculty Development Workshop

The Mediterranean Milieu:
Islam and Christianity in the Medieval World

Dr.Allen Fromherz, Assistant Professor of History
Middle East Institute, Georgia State University

Friday, November 6
10:30 AM - 2:30 PM
Room 2131, 34 Peachtree Building
Georgia State University
Atlanta, GA 30302

This seminar will introduce participants to new research on the interconnections between Christendom and the Islamic World during the medieval period. Dr. Fromherz will explore how the confluence of commerce, culture, and creed throughout the Mediterranean created a common culture across and between religions and regions. These exchanges were, in part, responsible for producing the conditions that spawned the Renaissance.

Registration is free and open to all faculty. Lunch will be provided.

You must register in order to attend this seminar. Space is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first served basis. For more information, please contact Alta Schwartz at aschwartz@gsu.edu.
