Middle East Institute

The Middle East Institute promotes greater understanding of the Middle East, its diverse cultures, languages, and people. Through degree programs, language study, study abroad, and faculty research the Middle East Institute seeks to institutionalize Middle East studies throughout the GSU curriculum. The MEI is committed to public outreach, sponsors an exciting series of lectures and cultural events for the academic community and public as well as specialized training for K-16 educators. The MEI facilitates professional projects in the Middle East, in fields including journalism through partnership with key agencies, including the U.S. State Department.

 

FALL 2008 COURSES

 

TURKISH LECTURER POSITION AVAILABLE:

Visiting Turkish Lecturer/Instructor: Will teach courses in modern Turkish and Turkish culture and society.  This is a half-time position to begin August 11, 2008.. Applicants should have a Ph.D.or M.A. in Turkish language, literature or other appropriate discipline and native or near-native fluency in Turkish and English.  The successful candidate must have a demonstrated interest and expertise in second-language instruction and assessment, solid interpersonal skills, and a high level of teaching competence.  Please send a letter of application, current CV, and three letters of recommendation to Chair, New Appointments Committee, Middle East Institute, Georgia State University, P.O.
